A Question of Authority

Where do different apologetical methods fall on the authority of God and his Word, the Bible? This question may seem strange, as one may assume this to be a non-issue when it comes to defending the Christian faith. After all isn’t it a given that the Bible should be appealed to when showing an unbeliever of their need for repentance and faith in Christ, since it’s the only source that contains the very word of God? Or should the non-believer be allowed to judge external evidence to see whether the Bible is truly the Word of God and that he needs to obey it? An even stranger question may be, should the Bible be used at all in a Christian’s witnessing encounter or is it only useful for a believer? …
